Frequently Asked Questions
I don't usually talk about my feelings. Will therapy work for someone like me?
Yes, and you're in good company — most men we see didn't grow up doing this kind of thing. You don't need to arrive as an expert in your own emotions. Part of the work is developing language for what's actually going on underneath the surface, at your own pace and in ways that don't feel performative. Many men are surprised by how quickly this becomes usable rather than uncomfortable.
Do you have therapists who understand how men actually experience things like anger, shame, or depression?
Yes. Depression in men often looks like irritability, workaholism, checking out with substances or screens, or a general flatness — not the crying-in-bed picture most people imagine. Anger frequently sits on top of grief or shame that never got named. Shame in men often lives silently underneath everything and rarely gets talked about. We work with these patterns directly and without shaming you for having them.
Is this going to feel like being lectured about toxic masculinity?
No. Our job is to help you build the life and relationships you actually want, not to make you feel bad about being a man. We take masculinity seriously and hold it with respect. When patterns are getting in your way, we'll name that directly — but with curiosity, not condemnation.
Can therapy help with issues like performance at work, being a good dad, or my marriage?
Yes, and often better than clients expect. Work performance, fatherhood, and marriage all connect back to internal patterns — stress regulation, communication, unresolved family-of-origin stuff, and beliefs about who you're supposed to be. Working on the internal side tends to produce real changes in the external ones. Many men come in for one specific issue and find the ripple effects reach a lot further than the presenting problem.
